WYFR, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
WYFR was a shortwave radio station located in Okeechobee, Florida, United States, owned by Family Stations, Inc., as part of the Family Radio network.

WYFR can trace its roots back to W1XAL which was an experimental shortwave station which was granted a licence in 1927. It broadcast from Boston until 1936 when the station moved to Scituate, Massacusetts.
In 1939 the call letters of the station were changed to WRUL. Initially the station served as an education station, broadcasting university lectures.
During the Second World War, WRUL became a propoganda station and was leaded by the United States Government from 1942 until the end of WW2.
In 1966 the station became WNYW.
In 1973 it was purchased by Family Stations Inc and commenced broadcasting as WYFR on the 20th day of October 1973. WYFR stands for 'We're Your Family Radio".
In 1977, WYFR built new transmitters in Okeechobee, Florida. In 1979 the Scituate site was closed.
In mid 2013, Family Radio announced that it would be closing WYFR on the 30th day of June 2013.
