2018.
2018 CQ World Wide WPX Contest
I found band conditions very challenging. Long path Europe on 20m was very poor. The majority of my QSOS were on the 15m band.
I made a total of 246 contacts on 10, 15, 20, 40m SSB, with 191 prefixes worked.
I ended up with a score of 147,452 points.
10m - 7 QSOs
15m - 106 QSOs
20m - 79 QSOs
40m - 60 QSOs
I came 1st in Australia in this category.

Below is a map showing my contacts during the contest.
Below are my contacts in the Asian region. The majority of these were made on 15m SSB.
Below are my contacts in Europe and northern Africa. The European contacts were made on 20m long path and 15m short path. The two Moroccan stations (CN2AA & CN3A) had huge signals on 40m
And finally here are my contacts in North America. Most of these were made on 40m SSB during ‘our’ evening. Some of the signals from the USA were huge.
2018 Oceania DX Contest.
I ended up with a total of 279 contacts and a score of 14,896 points. I worked a total of 49 different DXCC entities on 10, 15, 20, 40 & 80m SSB.
2018 VK Shires Contest
Marija VK5FMAZ and I headed down to Mount Gambier on the June long weekend to attend the South East Radio Group’s annual convention/buy and sell/National Fox hunting championships. Unfortunately this weekend clashes with the annual VK Shires Contest. However this year we did sneak in some portable operating for the contest.
Marija and I activated the Mumbannar Nature Conservation Reserve VKFF-2161 in Victoria, and the Piccanninie Ponds Conservation Park 5CP-178 & VKFF-0927 in South Australia.
Considering we spent just a few hours on air, we were very pleased to come 5th and 7th in the VK Single Op Rover category. Marija made 29 contacts and had a score of 899 points. I made a total of 77 QSOs with a score of 6,237 points.
Congratulations to Tony VK3XV who came in at position number 1 in this category with a score of 18,176 points.
And thanks to Trent VK4TS and Alan VK4SN, the organisers of the event.

2018 John Moyle Memorial Field Day
Unfortunately I had to work over the weekend of the 2018 JMMFD. So on Saturday night I did a little bit of operating from home, going between the shack and the living room, to check on the South Australian State election. I made a total of 78 contacts with a final score of 108 points. I came in at 9th position for the Home Station-6 hour category.
