INTERNATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE & LIGHTSHIP WEEKEND (ILLW).
Most years, I take part in the International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend (ILLW).
I have travelled to Kangaroo Island OC-139, with other amateur radio operators from the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society (AHARS). We operated from the Cape Willoughby lighthouse, which was the first lighthouse to be erected in South Australia. It was built in 1852.
My first year in the ILLW was in 2012 when I operated as VI5CW to help celebrate the 160th anniversary of the lighthouse and the 15th anniversary of the ILLW.
I next attended Kangaroo Island the following year in 2013, and operated as VK5CWL.
In 2014 and 2015 I did not take part in the ILLW, as I had other committments including overseas travel.
In 2017 my wife Marija VK5FMAZ and I activated the Marino Rocks lighthouse.
