MILLS ON THE AIR
The Mills on the Air event is held annually in May, and is co-ordinated by the Denby Dale Radio Society in the United Kingdom. It coincides with the National Mills Weekend, run by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
This is not a contest, but rather an opportunity of promoting the hobby of amateur radio and at the same time promoting the preservation of heritage.

That weekend is also the Dutch National Windmill and Waterpumpstation weekend.
An award is on offer for:
a/ working six different windmills or pumping stations; or
b/ making six QSOs with windmills or pumping stations on different bands/modes.

In 2019 I activated Nixons Mill at Hahndorf. I made a total of 52 contacts. My wife Marija also operated from the Mill and made a total of 11 contacts.

In 2018 I activated Nixons Mill at Hahndorf. I made a total of 54 contacts in around 2 hours of being on air.

2017
In 2017 on Saturday, I headed to Nixons Mill at Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, and operated with the special call of VK5WOW. I made a total of 89 contacts. More information on the activation can be found on my Wordpress site at.....

And then on Sunday I activated the old Laucke Flour Mill at STRATHALBYN, again using VK5WOW. I made a total of 87 contacts. Tony VK5MRT joined me during part of the activation.
