IFRIKYA FM.
Ifrikya FM which translates to African FM in French, is an Algerian public radio station. It was inaugurated in Algiers on the 3rd day of May 2003, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day. Its objective is to give a voice to African listeners, with the slogan “The African voice”.
The Algerian Minister of Communiction stated that the new radio station would "cover Africa-related issues in all spheres of life".
The Director of Ifrikya FM stated: "this newborn will be the voice of Africa par excellence”. He stated Ifrikya FM was comprised of "a staff of young journalists from different African nationalities, a network of correspondents in nine African countries, and programs broadcast in five languages, namely Arabic, French, Targui, Hausa, and Bambara.”
