The Kriesler Radio Company was founded in 1928 by three brothers Alec, Leo and Rae Weingott. The original registered office was located in inner city Sydney at at 43 Alice Street, Newtown. The business subsequently relocated to premises in Caringbah, in Sydney's southern suburbs.
The Weingott brothers originally intended the name of their company to be spelled "Kreisler". This was in reference to composer and violin virtuoso Fritz Kreisler. However, they changed the spelling to Kriesler to avoid any legal issues.
