RADIO UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL.
Radio Ukraine International is the official international broadcasting station of Ukraine.
The station was originally known as Radio Kiev and commenced broadcasting on the 1st day of November 1950 in the Ukrainian language. It was a 'sister station' to Radio Moscow during the Soviet era.
In October 1962 Radio Kiev introduced its first English language program broadcast. In 1966 German language programming was introduced, followed by Romanian language broadcasts in 1970.
In March 1992 the station was renamed Radio Ukraine International.
In December 2010, shortwave broadcasts from Radio Ukraine International was suspended due to lack of funding.
