2016 Oceania DX Contest
I entered into the Single op low power section of the contest with a claimed score of 120,754 points.
I ended up with an official score of 118,508 points with 273 QSOs. I came in at second place in Australia, behind VK4LAT who had the amazing score of 366,485 points. In third place is Ian VK6DW with 100,252 points.

2016 CQ WW DX Contest
I entered into the 2016 CQ WW DX Contest in the Single Operator/Low Power/All Bands section, and made a total of 331 contacts. My claimed score was 130,240 points. I was the only VK5 to submit a log.
My score was brought down to 124,820 points. I came 1st in my category in Australia, 5th in Oceania, and 164th in the world.

2016 All Asian DX Contest
During the weekend of Sat 3rd and Sun 4th Sept, whenever I had a bit of time, I logged stations for the 2016 All Asian DX Contest which is sponsored by the JARL. I made a total of 218 contacts with a score of 22,995 points. I came SECOND behind VK2BJ who made 269 contacts with a score of 40,650 points. Unfortunately there are no Low or High power sections in this contest.
2016 Trans Tasman Low Band Challenge
The aim of the Trans Tasman Low Band Challenge is to encourage low band activity in Australia and New Zealand. The applicable bands are 160, 80 and 40m. Amateurs in VK and ZL contact other amateurs in VK and ZL in three individual 2 hour blocks. Points are awarded for valid contacts between VK & ZL stations.
I called in to the Mowantjie Willauwar Conservation on the way home from the Coorong and spent about 90 minutes on air for this contest. I made a total of 90 contacts on 40m and 80m.
As it turned out 55 of those were in period one, whilst a further 35 were in period two. I packed up before the conclusion of period 2. My total score was 795 points. I came in at position 11.

I entered into the 2016 John Moyle Memorial Field Day. I operated portable from the Monarto Conservation Park.
I came in first place with 229 QSOs and a score of 458 points.
Tony VK1VIC came in second place with 146 QSOs and 292 points.
Catherine VK4GH came in third place with 119 QSOs and 238 points.

2016 RD Contest
For the 2016 RD Contest I operated portable from the Totness Recreation Park. I ran 40 watts from my Yaesu FT-857d into a linked dipole.

2016 VK Shires
During the 2016 VK Shires Contest I activated the Telford Scrub Conservation Park (MG5) and the Carpenter Rocks Conservation Park (GD5) in the South East of South Australia. I made a total of 155 contacts. I came first in the contest in the Rover section, with a total of 16,704 points.
