VOICE OF MALAYSIA.
Radio Malaya was established on the 1st day of April 1946. It was the first broadcaster in the country.
Malaysia obtained its independence on the 31st day of August 1957. At that time Radio Malaya was split into two separate stations. Radio Singapura took over the original studios in Singapore. Radio Malaya moved to Kuala Lumpur and commenced broadcasting on the 1st day of January 1959. On the 16th day of September 1963, the station was renamed Radio Malaysia.
On the 15th day of February 1965, Radio Malaysia's flagship international shortwave radio service, the Voice of Malaysia was launched to promote the country of Malaysia.
Initially the Voice of Malaysia broadcast in the English, Mandarin, and Indonesian language.
Due to the diminished effectiveness of the shortwave radio service, with changing technology and media consumption habits, the Voice of Malaysia discontinued on the 31st day of August 2011.
