BUSHFIRES
Unfortunately, the threat of bushfire is a part of the Australian Summer in some locations. And where I live on the Fleurieu Peninsula, it is a regular threat that is confronted each Summer season.

NANGKITA FIRE - JANUARY 2026
The 2 photos below are the view of the 2026 Nangkita fire from the front of my home.
CUDLEE CREEK FIRE - JANUARY 2020
The 2020 Cudlee Creek fire burnt to about 5 km from my home at the time.
About 22,300 hectares were burnt, 83 homes destroyed, and one person was killed.

SAMPSON FLAT FIRE - JANUARY 2015
The Sampson Flat commenced on 2nd January 2015. It burnt an area more than 20,000 acres (49,000 acres) and destroyed 27 houses and 140 outbuildings. There were 134 reported injuries.
