BUSHFIRES.
Unfortunately the threat of bushfire, is a part of the Australian Summer in some locations. And where I live in the Adelaide Hills that is a regular threat that is confronted.

Cudlee Creek fire, January 2020.
The most recent devastating bushfire to occur near my home QTH was the Cudlee Creek fire. The fire burnt to about 5 km from my home.
About 22,300 hectares were burnt, 83 homes destroyed and one person was killed.

Sampson Flat fire, January 2015.
The Sampson Flat commenced on 2nd January 2015. It burnt an area more than 20,000 acres (49,000 acres) and destroyed 27 houses and 140 outbuildings. There were 134 reported injuries.
