I regularly chase activators who are taking part in the Italian Castles Award (D.C.I.). It is a lot of fun chasing the Italian Castle activators.
This award is issued by the Mondovi (Cuneo) section of Associazione Radioamatori Italiani (A.R.I.) to amateurs and SWLs. The purpose of the award is highlight the many historical castles located in Italy and 'enhance their historical and architectural heritage'. It is open to amateurs and SWL's.
For foreign amateurs the award is issued for working 20 castles in Italy, situated in at least 5 different Regions. It is obligatory for one contact to have been with a castle of the Province of Cuneo.
Contacts after 1st January 2001 count for the award.
The regions are as follows.....
Emilia Romagna (BO)
Friuli Venezia Giulia (GO)
Trentino Alto Adige (BZ)
Valle d'Aosta (AO)
Endorsements are issued for having worked at least 3 castles for every region. The endorsements consist of an adhesive colour sticker showing the Italian regions.
