Two years later, in 1921, a store was opened in Boston, USA by brothers Theodore and Milton Deutschmann, selling amateur radio equipment. William Halligan, who was one of the first employees, suggested that the business be called Radio Shack, which was a term used to describe the room that housed radio equipment aboard a ship. Halligan would go on to become the founder of Hallicrafters. (radioshack n.d.)
