LONDON HOUSE
London House is located on the corner of High Street and Grey Street.
London House was built in 1867 for Thomas Stephens. He ran a general store from the building. Later that year, in May 1867, Hill & Co, a coach service, constructed storage sheds to the rear of the building.
The building was later purchased by John Muir McFarlane, who was Strathalbyn's Mayor from 1881-1883. He ran a General Grocery and Ironmongery Store. In 1883, he installed Strathalbyn's first telephone in the building. (lester, firth & murton n.d.)
