DONALD HENRY McLEAN
Donald Henry McLean was born on the 28th day of August 1854, at Strathalbyn, South Australia. His parents were John McLean and Mary McLean Stacey.
His grandfather was Donald Henry McLean, who was the first to grow wheat in South Australia.

On the 6th day of April 1881, he married Mary Frances Smith at the Congregational Church, Milang, South Australia.
Donald and Mary had one child, William in 1882.
Mary died on the 30th day of November 1884, at Walkerville, South Australia, aged 27 years.
Following the death of Mary, Donald moved to Kaniva in western Victoria.
On the 23rd day of February 1889, he married Ellen Johanna Ford at Norwood, South Australia.
Following their marriage, the couple moved back to Victoria. They had five children: Alan John Ormiston in 1889; James Ernest Hopetoun in 1891; Ethel May Victoria in 1893; Beatrice Blanche Adelaide in 1894; and Colin Donald Sydney in 1895.
Their son Colin was killed in France during the First World War.
In 1922, Donald had his first wife, Mary, exhumed from her resting place in the Milang Cemetery and reburied at the Strathalbyn Cemetery. This was 37 years following her death.
Donald was reported to recognise Mary because of her fair hair and beautiful natural teeth.

Donald died on the 26th day of September 1933, at Murrayville, Victoria, aged 78 years.

Donald is buried at the Strathalbyn Cemetery. His headstone can be found at Plot 449, Row J, Division 1.
